Dockyard
A calm, offline-first way for small crews to log and split shared boat maintenance.
Dockyard came out of a conversation with a friend who co-owns a small sailboat with four others. Every season, the same argument: who paid for the last oil change, whose turn it is to haul the boat out, and where the maintenance log actually lives. Spreadsheets and group chats worked, barely, until they didn’t.
I built Dockyard as a small, offline-first iOS app that syncs quietly in the background whenever a connection is available, and never blocks on the network otherwise. That is an easy requirement to state and a genuinely tricky one to build well, given how much of a boat-share group’s day happens with zero signal.
The result is unglamorous but well-loved by the handful of groups piloting it: a shared ledger, a maintenance timeline, and a fuel log, with nothing else competing for attention.
